Public interest to the historic caves was increased because of the publications in the newspapers of Vinnitsa in 1994-1998.The catacombs near the village of Selishche of Tivriv district (historical Cherlenkiv), the caves of Voronovitsa, collapses on the streets of Vinnitsa were mentioned in newspapers. Very interesting facts were found in regional archive of Vinnitsa. The documents of the 20-s of our century show the details of the construction of a branch of the State Bank in Vinnitsa. They discover that the ground underneath is penetrated with underground passages which are situated in 5m depth. The schedule was changed because of the situation and they had to concrete the precipice but the new once appeared again and again. There was made a plan of the underground passages. The story was unexpectedly continued in… 60 years. Not long ago a new precipice appeared in the center of Vinnitsa. A group of spelunkers examined more than 100m, marked the passage on the plan, compared the plans of 1929 and of 1998 and they appeared to be absolutely identical. The system of passage was the same! It turned out that the underground galleries took the beginning from the Catholic church, that was not far away. The information from "Chronicle of Vinnitsa Caputsin monastery" proved everything showing the presents of the branching system of underground passages. One of the passages led to the river Uzhniy Bug (or maybe under the river - as the evidences testify), the other passage went into south-west direction. There just behind the walls of Vinnitsa of the Middle Ages a revine with the forest took their beginning. The alike underground’s passages could be seen in the monasteries of Dominicans and Jesuits.
